daily reading 15.2 (Daniel 12:5–7)

 5-days-a-week through Daniel and other late OT books in 2023

Our opening prayer for this glorious Easter week:

Lord, you have heard your Servant’s cry, And rescued from the grave.
Now he shall live, and none can die, If God has sworn to save.

This is the day the Lord has made; He calls the hours his own.
Let heaven rejoice; let earth be glad And praise surround the throne.

Today he rose and left the dead, And Satan’s empire fell;
Today the saints his triumphs spread And all his wonders tell.

Hosanna to th’ anointed King, To David’s holy Son!
Help us, O Lord; descend and bring Salvation from the throne.

Blessed is Jesus Christ, who came With messages of grace,
Who came in God the Father’s name To save our sinful race.

Hosanna in the highest strains The church on earth shall raise;
The highest heavens, in which he reigns, Shall give him nobler praise.
Amen.

Daniel 12:5–7

  • Then I, Daniel, looked, and two others were standing there, one on this bank of the river and one on the other.
  • 6 One of them said to the man dressed in linen, who was above the water of the river, "How long until the end of these wondrous things?"
  • 7 Then I heard the man dressed in linen, who was above the water of the river. He raised both his hands toward heaven and swore by him who lives eternally that it would be for a time, times, and half a time. When the power of the holy people is shattered, all these things will be completed.
Helpful notes on Daniel 12:5–7

For yourself pray:

  • That God gives you patience both for a) the thing you have personally been waiting for the longest and b) the coming of his Son

For others pray:

  • That God glorifies his holy name by spreading his good news by his Spirit in Saudi Arabia

A psalm to listen to, as time allows:
