daily reading 21.2 (Haggai 2:20–23)

5-days-a-week through Daniel and other late OT books in 2023

Our opening prayer for this Easter week:

Be now our Joy on earth, O Lord,
And be our future great Reward. Alleluia! Alleluia!
Then, throned with you forever, we
Shall praise your name eternally.
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

O risen Christ, ascended Lord,
All praise to you let earth accord, Alleluia! Alleluia!
You are, while endless ages run,
With Father and the Spirit One.
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!  Amen.

Haggai 2:20-–23

  • The word of LORD came to Haggai a second time on the twenty-fourth day of the month:
  • 21 "Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah: I am going to shake the heavens and the earth.
  • 22 "I will overturn royal thrones and destroy the power of the Gentile kingdoms. I will overturn chariots and their riders. Horses and their riders will fall, each by his brother's sword.
  • 23 "On that day "—this is the declaration of LORD of Armies—"I will take you, Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, my servant "—this is LORD's declaration—"and make you like my signet ring, for I have chosen you." This is the declaration of LORD of Armies.
