daily reading 21.5 (Zechariah 1:4–6)

5-days-a-week through Daniel and other late OT books in 2023

Our opening prayer for this Easter week:

Be now our Joy on earth, O Lord,
And be our future great Reward. Alleluia! Alleluia!
Then, throned with you forever, we
Shall praise your name eternally.
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

O risen Christ, ascended Lord,
All praise to you let earth accord, Alleluia! Alleluia!
You are, while endless ages run,
With Father and the Spirit One.
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!  Amen.

Zechariah 1:4–6

  • "Do not be like your ancestors; the earlier prophets proclaimed to them: This is what the LORD of Armies says: Turn from your evil ways and your evil deeds. But they did not listen or pay attention to me—this is the LORD's declaration.
  • 5 Where are your ancestors now? And do the prophets live forever?
  • 6 But didn't my words and my statutes that I commanded my servants the prophets overtake your ancestors? '" So the people repented and said, "As the LORD of Armies decided to deal with us for our ways and our deeds, so he has dealt with us."
Helpful notes on Zechariah 1:4–6

For yourself pray:

  • That you gladly see more clearly that everything God has told you in his Word is true

For others pray:

  • That God for the glory of his name and the good of his chosen children ends the bloody civil wars in Ethiopia

A psalm to listen to, as time allows:
