daily reading 42.3 (Nehemiah 1:10–11)
5-days-a-week through Daniel and other late OT books in 2023
Our opening prayer for this week:
Christ is made the sure foundation, Christ, our head and cornerstone,
Chosen of the Lord, and precious, Binding all the church in one,
Holy Zion’s help forever And our confidence alone.
To your temples, when we call you, Come, O Lord of hosts and stay;
Come with all your loving-kindness. Hear your children as they pray,
And your fullest benediction Speak within our hearts today.
Grant, we pray, to all your faithful All the gifts they ask to gain,
What they gain from you forever With the blessed to retain,
And hereafter in your glory Evermore with you to reign.
Praise and honor to the Father, Praise and honor to the Son,
Praise and honor to the Spirit, Ever Three and ever One,
One in might and one in glory While unending ages run! Amen.
Nehemiah 1:10–11
- "They are your servants and your people. You redeemed them by your great power and strong hand.
- 11 "Please, Lord, let your ear be attentive to the prayer of your servant and to that of your servants who delight to revere your name. Give your servant success today, and grant him compassion in the presence of this man. "
- At the time, I was the king's cupbearer.
Helpful notes on Nehemiah 1:10–11
For yourself pray:
- That God hears your desperate prayers
For others pray:
- That God glorifies his holy name by giving success to someone you know who is trying to get help from someone in a legal/government position
A psalm to listen to and ponder, as time allows:
- Psalm 119:89–96 (lamedh) (YouTube, duet)
