daily reading 44.4 (Nehemiah 4:4–6)
5-days-a-week through Daniel and other late OT books in 2023
Our opening prayer for this week:
Though I may speak with bravest fire
And have the gift to all inspire
And have not love, my words are vain—
As sounding brass— and hopeless gain.
Though I may give all I possess
And, striving so, my love profess
But not be given by love within,
The profit soon turns strangely thin.
Come, Spirit, come; our hearts control.
Our spirits long to be made whole.
Let inward love guide every deed.
By this we worship and are freed. Amen.
Nehemiah 4:4–6
- Listen, our God, for we are despised. Make their insults return on their own heads and let them be taken as plunder to a land of captivity.
- 5 Do not cover their guilt or let their sin be erased from your sight, because they have angered the builders.
- 6 So we rebuilt the wall until the entire wall was joined together up to half its height, for the people had the will to keep working.
- Helpful notes on Nehemiah 4:4–6
For yourself pray:
- That Jesus gives you patience
For others pray:
- That God frustrates the plans of the enemies of the gospel in your area
A psalm to listen to and ponder, as time allows:
- Psalm 120 (YouTube, duet)
