daily reading 45.1 (Nehemiah 4:12–14)
5-days-a-week through Daniel and other late OT books in 2023
Our opening prayer for this week:
Lord, keep us steadfast in your Word;
Curb those who by deceit or sword
Would seek to overthrow your Son
And to destroy all he has done.
Lord Jesus Christ, your power make known,
For you are Lord of lords alone;
Defend your Christendom that we
May sing your praise eternally.
O Comforter of priceless worth,
Send peace and unity on earth.
Support us in our final strife,
And lead us out of death to life. Amen.
Nehemiah 4:12–14
- When the Jews who lived nearby arrived, they said to us time and again, "Everywhere you turn, they attack us."
- 13 So I stationed people behind the lowest sections of the wall, at the vulnerable areas. I stationed them by families with their swords, spears, and bows.
- 14 After I made an inspection, I stood up and said to the nobles, the officials, and the rest of the people, "Don't be afraid of them. Remember the great and awe-inspiring Lord, and fight for your countrymen, your sons and daughters, your wives and homes."
For yourself pray:
- That in Christ by his Spirit God takes away your fears
For others pray:
- That God protects those who protect you and your area (public safety personnel, armed forces)
A psalm to listen to and ponder, as time allows:
- Psalm 122 (YouTube, duet)
