daily reading 19.4 (Ezra 7:8–10)

5-days-a-week through Daniel and other late OT books in 2023

Our opening prayer for this Easter week:

Christ be my leader by night as by day;
Safe through the darkness for he is the way.
Gladly I follow, my future his care,
Darkness is daylight when Jesus is there.

Christ be my teacher in age as in youth,
Drifting or doubting for he is the truth.
Grant me to trust him; though shifting as sand,
Doubt cannot daunt me; in Jesus I stand.

Christ be my Savior in calm as in strife;
Death cannot hold me, for he is the life.
Nor darkness nor doubting nor sin and its stain
Can touch my salvation: with Jesus I reign. Amen.

Ezra 7:8–10

  • Ezra came to Jerusalem in the fifth month, during the seventh year of the king.
  • 9 He began the journey from Babylon on the first day of the first month and arrived in Jerusalem on the first day of the fifth month since the gracious hand of his God was on him.
  • 10 Now Ezra had determined in his heart to study the law of the LORD, obey it, and teach its statutes and ordinances in Israel.
Helpful notes on Ezra 7:8–10

For yourself pray:

  • That by his Spirit God makes you determined, like Ezra, to study his Word, obey it, and teach it to others

For others pray:

  • That for the sake of his kingdom God brings peace to Myanmar

A psalm to listen to, as time allows:

  • Psalm 66 (YouTube, soloist with guitar)
